CRAZY NIGHT AT GREENWICH THEATRE

Greenwich Theatre has fond memories of the late Max Wall where he scored so many of his late successes..It was here that he devised ³Aspects of Max Wall². (featuring the immortal Professor Wallofski) the entertainment for which he is most fondly remembered. In addition patrons will recall his performances as Archie Rice in Osborne¹s ³The Entertainer² and in the plays of Samuel Beckett.

Max will be celebrated in a special programme entirely devoted to the comic dance form in which he excelled. It is presented by The Max Wall Society on

Sunday 18 July at 7.0pm.


Entitled ³DANCE CRAZY-LIVE that¹s what it will be as it colourfully describes the history of Eccentric and Comedy dancing from its origins in American vaudeville, British Music Hall and Silent film .It will be performed by a team of dancers drawn from professional companies, including the Royal Ballet, West End Shows, and Physical Theatre Companies, together with specialist in unusual dance forms such as Baroque, Clog dancing, Hip-hop. Leg-o-Mania and Soft Shoe..
In a display of eccentric and comic dance forms there will be memories revived and homage made to great exponents like Little Tich, Lily Morris, Laurel and Hardy, Buster Keaton, Ray Bolger, Donald O¹Connor, Dan Dailey, Wilson, Keppel; and Betty, Eugene Stratton, Billy Dainty and, of course, Max Wall with which the evening concludes

A World Record will be attempted for the largest number of Max Wall
look-a-likes ever seen together on any stage. Dancers of all ages, shapes and sizes are being sought for the Max Wall tribute.
The choreographer Barry Grantham is known as author, world authority and practitioner in unusual dance.. In partnership with his wife Joan he performed during the last days of variety. From the wings he watched Max Miller and the countless speciality acts that supported similar stars. Now in his seventies he wishes to ensure future generations learn and enjoy through his teaching the weird and wonderful dance steps that he learned and enjoyed as a youth.
